Brand story: Valentine Gauthier

Valentine Gauthier, my latest brand crush, has its roots in Paris, the city of historical fashion houses, the heart of traditional fashion and the seed of a new generation of young designers supported by a strong heritage.
Valentine is one of them, bringing us the perfect mix of timeless elegance, youthful but ever graceful nonchalance and an option for personality without overdoing it. Exactly what my generation of women is looking for. A generation that has the freedom to make all of their choices, with the world at our feet or so it seems and a tendency towards being humble an elegant about it.

We don’t have time for extreme outfit changes during the day, we want to feel confident in every situation, in every kind of bar, in every type of city. That bewildering image of the global nomad, taking pride in everything she does for and as a living and dressing the part.

To put it in Valentine’s words: “Chic is not prepared or planned, rather almost unwanted. It is a savant mix of nonchalance and grace.”

A brand like Valentine Gauthier is what you start looking for when you can no longer be bothered with fast fashion, bad quality and fleeting styles for the sake of buying things cheap. Valentine Gauthier keeps a high standard in quality, production and the tactile experience of a garment. For me she excels in her prints, material mix and everyday exceptional pieces, like that one printed jacket or the perfect flowy dress.

Picking favorites from her FW15 collection was a hard thing to do, but I lost my heart to her crane bird print, buttery soft leather items and the graphic black and white range contrasting the rich Autumn hues, keeping things sharp and surprising.
I did catch a glimpse of her SS16 collection and I can tell you it’s what sweet summer dreams are made of…

All and all the perfect brand to add to your list of personal favorites you don’t see at every corner of the street and that will make you feel confident and elegant in every situation.

Valentine Gauthier is sold in the following Belgian stores among others: Bluepoint, Baby Beluga and Lewis. Or make sure to visit their flagship store in le Marais when in Paris!
